We are currently seeking candidates for our free MLDP program.

The program’s mission is to identify, train and place minority leaders in volunteer leadership and policy-making roles within nonprofit agencies throughout Cumberland County.

Youth Growth Stock Trust

is now accepting grant applications!

The income and designated gifts from the YGST are used to benefit the youth of Cumberland County. For 2008, $300,000 is available for seed money, pilot programs, challenge grants and/or matching gifts.

 

To apply for a grant, pick up an application at the United Way of Cumberland County office 222 Maiden Lane or click on the link below.

 

Deadline for submitting proposals is 4 PM, Thursday, May 1.

Days of Caring

We are hosting our 15th Annual Days of Caring this May 8-10th! This is a city-wide volunteer movement--all are welcome! There are lots of projects to choose from, so don't delay deadline is April 25th!

NALC National Food Drive is May 10th

The United Way and the National Association of Letter Carriers is teaming up again this year for the nations largest food drive!

Simply leave a bag of non-perishable items near your mailbox on May 10th and your letter carrier will pick it up. All food donated will be delivered to Second Harvest Food Bank. Call to find out how you can volunteer!

Your gift of $1 a week can provide 25 girl scouts with basic science experiment supplies -OR- you can buy two candy bars from a vending machine. >>


History

The concept of United Way originated in Denver, Colorado in 1887 when four clergymen and one public-spirited woman formed the first joint appeal for organized help in the United States. >>

What is Days of Caring?

Days of Caring is a community-wide demonstration of the power of volunteering! Hundreds of volunteers across Cumberland County will pitch-in and “lend a helping hand”. >>
