Information gathered about you

Signing up for e-mail updates When you sign up to receive e-mail updates, we ask for your name and e-mail address.

Donating online

When you donate online by credit card, you must submit your name, your credit card number and billing information. This information allows us to process and fulfill your donation and to notify you of your donation status.

Your IP address

An IP address is a number assigned to your computer automatically when you use the internet. United Way will use your IP address along with all other users' IP addresses to track usage patterns and improve our web site. At no time is your IP address linked with anything that personally identifies the owner of the IP address.

Other information tracked

When you request speakers, register as a campaigner, request information about running a campaign, enter a sweepstakes, complete a survey, vote in online polls or any other function that uses a submit/go button, United Way may track personal information that you provide in our secure database of community supporters.

What United Way does with information gathered

United Way tracks user traffic patterns, but this tracking is never associated with individual users.

Cookies

A cookie is a small data file that certain web sites write to your computer's hard drive when you visit them. United Way will only use cookies to make your experience at our web site more pleasant --- and never to track personally identifiable information about you. Community supporters database

United Way retains information provided by users in a secure database. This database of information may be used to verify donations transactions, thank supporters for their contributions, keep supporters informed or to solicit future donations. United Way understands that most people do not want a lot of mail or e-mail, so we keep our communication frequency within reasonable limits. You may be removed from our database at your request. All information is secure and credit card information is not held in this database. The information in this database is not shared, traded, sold or rented to any third parties.

Tracking information

United Way may share macro-level tracking information with third parties for various reasons, among them to attract potential advertisers and/or grant-makers and to enhance the effectiveness of its web site. At no time will personally identifiable information that you provide be shared with any of these or any other third parties.

Your gift of $1 a week can provide 25 girl scouts with basic science experiment supplies -OR- you can buy two candy bars from a vending machine. >>

The concept of United Way originated in Denver, Colorado in 1887 when four clergymen and one public-spirited woman formed the first joint appeal for organized help in the United States. >>
