Fayetteville, NC – Teen pregnancy and unemployment are two of the major concerns facing residents of Cumberland County, shows a new United Way report.

United Way of Cumberland County recently completed its Speak Out! 2009 Cumberland County Health and Human Services Needs Assessment, a compilation of survey and random sampling data that identifies current human services issues and needs within our community.

Target Designates Imagination Library Grant

Target has committed $3,000 to United Way of Cumberland County through its community grants program. The funds have been designated to go to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program which provides free books to children under the age of five to promote early education, reading, and parental involvement.

New Website Hopes to Bring Community Together

United Way of Cumberland County, one of the region’s largest nonprofits, launched a brand new community-focused website this week as part of the organization’s attempt to modernize its internet presence. The site, www.unitedway-cc.org, is designed to make information about the United Way and its partner agencies easy to obtain and update.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.— The United States is experiencing an economic downturn, and even Cumberland County is feeling the effects. According to United Way of Cumberland County’s Fall 2008 Nonprofit Pulse Survey, nonprofits’ revenues are down while the need for their services is increasing.
