Awards Criteria

Spirit of the Community Award

Presented to a company exhibiting outstanding year-round support of our community through local nonprofit agencies by:

  • Corporate giving
  • Corporate sponsorship
  • Supporting special community events
  • Encouraging voluntarism among employees
  • Exhibiting year-round visible presence in community building activities

Spirit of Community Award

Presented to a company exhibiting outstanding year-round support of our community through local non-profit agencies by: corporate sponsorships, supporting special community events, encouraging volunteerism among employees, and exhibiting year-round visible presence in community building activities.

Campaign Chairman’s Award

Presented to an organization with continuous outstanding employee support.

United Way of Cumberland County Agency Award

Presented to a United Way partner agency that has demonstrated outstanding community work based on community impact, working with United Way to help achieve our goals of helping people and assisting United Way with its annual campaign.

Paul T. Hodul Award

Presented to the organization with the most improved employee campaign.

Campaign Excellence Award

This award is presented to those organizations whose employees demonstrate excellence in their United Way campaign with at least 85% participation and either $78 per capita or a 35% increase over last year.

Campaign Leadership Award

This award is presented to those organizations whose employees demonstrate excellence in their United Way campaign with at least 75% participation and either $52 per capita or a 25% increase over last year.

Campaign Achievement Award

This award is presented to those organizations whose employees demonstrate excellence in their United Way campaign with at least 60% participation and either $26 per capita or a 15% increase over last year.

Your gift of $1 a week can provide 25 girl scouts with basic science experiment supplies -OR- you can buy two candy bars from a vending machine. >>


History

The concept of United Way originated in Denver, Colorado in 1887 when four clergymen and one public-spirited woman formed the first joint appeal for organized help in the United States. >>

As part of this community, each and every one of us share the responsibility of improving the quality of life in our community. United Way of Cumberland County provides important funding that assists people who need a helping hand, and EVERY dollar collected counts. >>

 

What is Days of Caring?

Days of Caring is a community-wide demonstration of the power of volunteering! Hundreds of volunteers across Cumberland County will pitch-in and “lend a helping hand”. >>
